Huidrom Premkumar South Korea bound for WoMAU AGM

Imphal, September 09 2025: Huidrom Premkumar, President of the World Thang-Ta Federation, will attend the 24th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the World Martial Arts Union (WoMAU) in Chungju, South Korea, on September 11 .

The meeting aims to share updates, discuss future plans, and strengthen global unity in traditional martial arts.

Thang-Ta, a centuries-old martial art form, played a vital role in safeguarding Manipur's national identity before the advent of modem warfare.

Now, Thang-Ta has been popularized as a sporting event and joined the Olympic movement, said Huyel Langlon Thang-Ta Association Manipur in a press release.

Before departing for South Korea, Oja Premkumar emphasized the need for practical efforts to promote Thang-Ta, which has taken roots in some countries, globally, rather than just rhetoric, the release said.

He stressed that tangible actions are necessary to take the martial art form to the world, it added.
