29th State Youth Basketball Championships : ESU beat YOSC 28-24 for third win on trot in girls' competition

Imphal, September 26 2026: ESU, Wangkhei inched towards the girls' final in the 29th State Youth Basketball Championships 2026 as they beat YOSC, Khurai by 28-24 points in a keenly contested match today at Brahmapur Nahabam Basketball Court.

Having beaten NETA and LMYVA with ease, ESU sealed their third win riding on Katherine's 16-point finish followed by contributions from Nancy (6 pts), Angelina (2 pts), Boishika (2 pts) and Babylia (2 pts) .

A Angelina scored the highest 14 points for YOSC as Th Chaoba scored 5 pts, K Tejasvi 3 pts and T Thoithoibi 2 pts.

In the other girls' fixture, CYLC bounced back from previous game loss to beat LMYVA 39-12 courtesy of leading performances from Rejina Achom (15 pts) and Julia Naorem (10 pts) .

Priyanka (6 pts), Loushingthoi (4 pts), Martina Naorem (2 pts) and Princess (2 pts) were also among the scorers for the CYLC .

For LMYVA, S Priya (8 pts), N Merinda (2 pts) and P Shreeya (2 pts) gathered 12 points.

ESU beat YOSC in top of table contest, both qualify for boys' semis

The league round of the boys' competition culminated today with ESU defeating YOSC by 81-66 points in the Group B top of the table contest this evening.

Prince displayed his exceptional scoring skill to drop 35 points including a trey to put ESU on top of the Group B as Chingichen and Robinhood chipped in 18 and 12 points respectively while Satish and Milkan scored 6 points apiece.

Geetchandra and Dishiraj also scored 2 points apiece for the winners.

Lanchenba also shone with five treys for the Khurai side as he made a brilliant 25-point finish followed by Kelvin with 22 points and Lanchenba with 12 points.

Phirepa and Ricky also added 4 and 3 points respectively to the team's tally.

In an inconsequential Group A match staged earlier in the day, BDBA beat St Anthony's School 61-21 riding on major contributions from Suryajit (28 pts), Sendick (12 pts) and Shangkar (11 pts) .

Ngarakzak on 14 pts emerged the highest point getter for St Anthony's School in a lost cause.

Meanwhile, YWC ended their Group B campaign with a 46-38 beating of UNACCO for the second win.

Malemnganba (19 points) and Chourajit (15 pts) led the scoring for YWC in the teams win as four others contributed 12 points.

Byron (12 pts), Alex (10 pts) and Poireinganba (10 pts) also made double digit figures for UNACCO in a lost cause.
