Hemash, Yubaraj & Nency shine as State Fencing C'ship begins

Imphal, August 22 2024: S Hemash, O Yubaraj and S Nency Rose shone on the opening day of the 20th Governor's Cup State Level Fencing Championship 2024 at YAS Fencing Hall, Khuman Lampak Sports Complex on Thursday.

S Hemash defeated L Tomba to win the gold medal in the senior men's foil event.

K Denny and O Dinesh earned bronze, sharing the third place.

O Yubaraj, meanwhile, made his mark in the senior men's sabre event, beating Moramba L in the final.

S Biju and Maxi Th both bagged the bronze medal.

S Nency Rose won the senior women's epee event.

She got the better of Bidyapati to secure the top podium honour as S Kirabala and Oshini K claimed the bronze.

In the mini boys' sabre event, Richtoper N secured the gold medal while Ph Wilson claimed the silver, with both N Dexter and L Khumanlakpa collecting the bronze.

On the other hand, Chishila S topped the mini girls' epee event after beating RK Lubina, with H Loyanganbi and Erika sharing the third place.

Prior to the matches, a opening function was held with M Lokendro Singh, former president Manipur Fencing Association (MFA), S Pritamkumar Singh, president MFA, L Anita Chanu, assistant director YAS, A Tombi Sharma, vice-president MFA, I Joybi Singh, vice-president MFA, M Kumar Singh, vice-president MFA, L Birahari Singh, associate vice-president MFA, and S Goutam Singh, associate vice-president MFA, attending as chief guest, president and guests of honour, respectively.
