2nd NE Rising Cup 2026 : Manipur go down by 6 wickets to Assam

Imphal, April 19 2026:
Manipur suffered a 6-wicket loss to hosts Assam in a Group A clash of the 2nd North East Rising Cup 2026, an U-15 girls' cricket tournament, at ACA Cricket Academy, Guwahati today.
Manipur won the toss and opted to bat first before being bowled out for 69 runs in 29.3 overs.
Hosts Assam then cruised to the winning 70 within 20 overs at the cost of 4 wickets.
Manipur started wobbly and slumped to 17/5 within 12.4 overs as Anandi Kumari (2/7 in 6 overs) and Mistu Debnath (2/12 in 2.1 overs) excelled with the bowl for Assam.
Laishram Bigyabati gave Manipur a gleam of hope by adding the highest 26 off 34 balls but her departure in the 27th over marked the downfall of the State team with Nousin Afra Anjum (2/14 in 7 overs) and Pinku Guwala (2/9 in 5.3 overs) completing their haul of two wickets.
Murshana 20 and Kankana Baishya 19 not out then guided Assam to the winning 70 in response despite Laiton Benita (1/11 in 5 overs), Suchitra Devi Waikhom (1/14) and Laishram Linthoi (1/10 in 2 overs) claiming a wicket apiece for Manipur.
Notably, Manipur are drawn alongside Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland in Group A while Tripura host Group B that include Sikkim, Meghalaya and Mizoram.
