PTRC, TRAU, REVS enjoy strolls in MNCA Elite Tournament

Imphal, April 18 2024:
PTRC and TRAU emerged easy winners to cling on to third and fourth spots as REYS outclassed MODEL by 7 wickets in the MNCA Elite Tournament on Thursday.
PTRC notched up a 69-run win over ESU in their encounter at Lairenjam Public Ground, Imphal.
The victory sees the Patsoi side stay third with 16 points from 11 matches.
PTRC are just one behind leaders CYCLONE and second-placed CHAMP.
The top-two teams have played 10 matches.
Deciding to bat, PTRC scored 217 after being dismissed in 37.2 overs.
Jotin Singh Pheiroijam was the star performer for the Patsoi team, amassing 84 .
Ngariyanbam Johnson Singh, on the other hand, did his bit with a 48-run knock, followed by Raj Kumar Rex Singh (18), Loitongbam Shi-taljit Singh (16) and Chingakham Bidash Meitei (13) .
Chasing 218, ESU wilted under pressure and were all out for 148 in 41.4 overs.
Only Chongtham Mehul Shreth (29) and Lourembam Dipu Singh (22) were the batters who crossed 20 in their chase.
PTRC sealed the victory with efforts from Tamarland Pheiroijam and Ngariyanbam Johnson Singh, who both scalped 3 wickets, aided by Deepak's two and Rohit Sharma Aribam's one.
Earlier, Chongtham Mehul Shreth and Hanjabam Donba Sharma each grabbed 3 wickets while Chitaranjan Sharma took two for ESU.
TRAU secured a 68-run triumph against Al-Ameen to stay fourth in the standings, gaining 12 points overall from 11 matches.
TRAU chose to bat and posted 222/9 as Yumnam Karnajit led the way with 77.He was ably supported by Priyojit Kangabam (49) and Pukhrambam Prafullomani Singh (44), with Amritakaran Singh Yumnam remaining unbeaten on 14 .
In the process, four of their wickets fell prey to Yumnam Rohit Sing's bowling, three to Nawaz's and one each to Mohd Sagir Ahamed's and Boboicha Singh Thokchom's.TRAU then bowled well to end Al-Ameen's run chase in 38 overs for 154 as Md Safwan Khan's 63 not out went in vain.
Thounaojam Rishikanta Singh led the TRAU attack, taking 3 wickets.
Somorjit Salam claimed 2 scalps while Preethson Arubam, Mutum Swabhiman and Priyojit Kangabam each chipped in with one in their comfortable win.
REYS, meanwhile, eased their way to a 7-wicket victory against MODEL at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium, Imphal.
REYS bundled out MODEL in 39.1 overs for 140 .
Sapam Bikash Singh turned out to the chief destroyer for REYS, picking up 4 wickets.
Sougrakpam Shangkar finished with three while Kiran Laishram and Md Basir Rahman each bagged one.
For MODEL, Langlonyamba Singh M (50), Bipinkumar Langpoklakpam (23) and Dingku G (22) were the main run-getters in their innings.
In reply, REYS completed the chase in 27 overs for the loss of 3 wickets, with Md Basir Rahman (58 not out), Jaali Ahmed Chisti (38), Yungkham Romario Roy (20 not out) and Mustaque Mohammed (20) all contributing to their resounding win.
