Imphal, October 16 2025: The 3rd Edition of District Level Junior Naga Indigenous Wrestling Championship 2025 held in memory of Sepoy K Ashuli, Vir Chakra (Posthumous) concluded today in Senapati.

The three day event witnessed overwhelming participation from young wrestlers aged 10 to 20 years, competing across three weight categories.

The championship celebrated the rich cultural heritage of the Naga community and promoted the values of discipline, strength, and sportsmanship among the youth.

Enthusiastic crowds comprising local residents, community leaders, and dignitaries cheered the spirited bouts, which showcased exceptional skill and determination, said a press release issued by PIB.

In the under 55 kg category, Ava Hrai clinched the gold medal as Rahavei secured the silver medal.

Veikho Dule meanwhile earned the 55-65 kg category gold by defeating Michael in the final.

In the above 65 kg category, Hriikhelou fetched the gold medal as Joyland finished runner-up.

The winners received a cheque of Rs 50,000 each, while the runners-up were awarded Rs 40,000, along with medals and certificates during the closing ceremony, it said.

Senior officers from the Indian Army graced the occasion and felicitated the winners, and commended the participants for their dedication.

The championship was widely appreciated by the local populace and highlighted the Indian Army's continued efforts to promote indigenous sports, foster youth engagement, and strengthen the bond with the people of Manipur, it said.
