5th MNCA Luwangpokpa T-20 Trophy : RULE, RCA intensify knock-out campaign with third wins

RULE, Meitram and RCA, Lilong intensified their knockout stage campaign by registering their third victories in their penultimate group stage matches of the ongoing 5th MNCA Luwangpokpa T-20 Trophytoday.
At Khangabok Cherapur Public Ground, RULE, whose two-game winning run was interrupted by a rain hit abandoned match, continued their momentum to beat WYC, Wangkhem by 30 runs for the third Group A win.
RULE opted to bat first and posted 121 runs for 8 wickets courtesy of Nongthombam Sarojkumar who played a remarkable unbeaten knock of 19-ball 35 before claiming 4 wickets to set up WYC collapse at 91 in 18.1 overs.
Jay Singh 28 off 31 balls and Leishangthem Bishorjit 14 off 31 balls also made double digit scores for RULE as Wangkhem Laksmon (3/18 in 4 overs) and Nongmaithem Ruhit (2/14 in 4 overs) shared five wickets and Gotimayum Mangi (1/18) and Huirongbam Biteshwor (1/24) picked a wicket apiece.
Chasing 122 for the victory, WYC faced stiff opposition early on and slumped to 51/7 in 11 overs despite Wangkhem Shamungou's fighting 27-ball 30 before the team were dismissed for 91 all out in 18.1 overs.
N Sarojkumar was the wrecker in chief for WYC finishing with the figures of 4/17 as Leishangthem Bishorjit (2/4 in 3.1 overs) and Jay Singh (2/26 in 4 overs) shared another four wickets.
S Ananda also chipped in with a wicket.
Sarojkumar of RULE was adjudged player of the match.
In another Group A match staged at Moijing Public Ground, ESU, Wangkhei Palace Compound defeated KCDO by 5 wickets for the second win in four matches.
Elsewhere at Khudeiband Lampak, RCA notched up a huge 52-run victory against CRAU, Khamnam Bazar for their third Group C win in four matches that included an abandoned match.
RCA added a modest total of 110 runs in 18.2 overs after opting to bat first courtesy of Md Alfash's 40-ball 39 before Md Nasirshah Alam Nongjaimayum (4/14 in 4 overs), Md Danish Khan (2/6) and Naesh Hussain (2/20) combined well to dismantle CRAU for 58 runs in 13.5 overs.
Zamir Khan and Illiyas also managed a wicket apiece for RCA.
Only Lamabam Ajay Singh (16 off 27 balls) was the double digit run getter for CRAU in the dismal chase.
Md Nasirshah Alam was declared man of the match.
Meanwhile in a Group B match, AKSDO, Khangabok defeated CDCC, Sagolband Salam Leikai by 29 runs at Khangabok Cherapur Public Ground.
Blue Hawk, Khurai also opened their Group D winning account by beating YWC, Langthabal by 5 wickets in their third match after having shared a point each in an abandoned match against TRAU in the previous outing.
