CYLC, Model Club to lock horns in Jr Basketball Championship final

Imphal, August 09 2025: CYLC and Model Club will go head-to-head for the junior boys' crown at the 38th State Sub-Junior and 15th Junior Basketball Championship 2025, after their semifinal victories on Saturday.

CYLC were in imperious form against YOSC, storming to an 85-56 triumph built on four quarters of disciplined, high-tempo basketball.

The side wasted no time in stamping their authority, racing to a 24-11 lead in the opening quarter with slick ball movement and sharp perimeter shooting.

They held their composure in the second, edging it 17-16 to keep momentum firmly on their side.

After the break, CYLC's offence clicked into another gear, outscoring YOSC 23-17 in the third quarter, before finishing with a 21-12 flourish in the final frame.

Their balanced scoring and relentless defence left YOSC chasing shadows in the closing minutes.

In the other semifinal, Model Club were made to work hard for their 53-47 win over a spirited BDBA side in a game that remained in the balance until the final whistle.

Model edged ahead 13-12 after a tense first quarter and maintained their narrow advantage by taking the second 11-10 .

The third period proved decisive, as Model's defensive discipline and fast-break opportunities saw them pull away with a 15-11 scoreline.

BDBA rallied in the final quarter, matching their opponents 14-14, but Model's earlier lead proved unassailable.
