ESU, PTCC enjoy easy wins in MNCA Superplate Tournament

ESU (Wangkhei) and PTCC (Patsoi) were easy winners in Saturday's fixtures of the MNCA Superplate Tournament.
ESU registered a dominant 98-run win over Muvanlai (New Lambulane) in their Group B match at Cherapur, Thoubal.
ESU opted to bat and posted a total of 238/9 in their 40 overs courtesy of their key contributors Longjam Herojit (55), Thokchom Nishikanta (42), M Bimananda (41), San-atomba (37) and Chongtham Mehul Shreth (28) .
For Muvanlai, G Lientin-thang Kipgen led the scalping with a haul of three wickets as Phurba Sherpa took two and Sanjay Kaphle and Khaikhotinlal Haokip bagged one each.
Needing to surmount a challenging target, Muvanlai succumbed to scoreboard pressure and disciplined bowling by the opposition as the Lambulane side played 32.5 overs only to manage 140 after being bowled out.
Thokchom Nishikanta and Hemchand Yum kham impressed with three scalps apiece for ESU while Chitaranjan Sharma and Chongtham Mehul did their bit with two wickets.
For Munvanlai, Nan-dakumar (25), Shibadatta Ningthoujam (21), Haolengou Kipgen (19), Lientinthang Khaikhotinlal Md Aslam (12 not out) were the run-getters in double figures in their run chase.
Thokchom Nishikanta won the man of the match title for his three wickets and 42 runs.
PTRC, on the other hand, enjoyed a convincing five-wicket victory against WYC (Thoubal) in their Group A encounter at Kongba Khu-nou Dhobi Lampak, Imphal East.
The Patsoi squad bundled out WYC in 34.4 overs for 137 and chased down the target with five wickets to spare.
Sadananda shone with the ball for PTRC by claiming five wickets while Sohail Akram picked two, with Shapam Kenjit and Paonam Champion accounting for one each.
In WYC innings, efforts by Thokchom Momocha (52), Laishram Rajesh (27), Bor-ish Khomdram (19 not out) and Priyobrata Moirangthem (ll) helped cross the century mark.
In their response, PTRC took 24.4 overs to eclipse WYC's total as the partnership of Andyroshan Mand-ingbam (41 not out) and Sohail Akram (21 not out) finished off the task.
Other contributors in their run chase were Hijam Hemach-andra (12), G Gomi Sharma (7) and Yambem Kaikuyamba .
For WYC, Wangkhem Lak-son snapped three wickets and Huirongbam Biteshwor took one.
The chief destroyer for PTRC, Sadananda Okram was adjudged the man of the match.
