Imphal, October 06 2026:
A sports body named Manipur Cricket Lovers has raised serious concerns over alleged "irregularities" in the Manipur Cricket Association's (MNCA) appointment of selectors ahead of the BCCI Domestic Season 202627 .
Addressing the media at Khuyathong, the spokesperson of the body, Thokchom Bikramjit Singh, claimed the MNCA violated established norms and demanded greater transparency regarding the appointment of three selectors.
Bikramjit alleged that the newly appointed selectors do not meet the mandated eligibility criteria.
"As per the rules, a selector must have represented a BCCI senior team and been retired for at least five years," he explained.
"However, two of the appointed selectors have never played for the Manipur senior team, while the third retired less than five years ago" .
Questioning the validity of these appointments, Bikramjit also cast doubt on the integrity of the State team selections for the upcoming Ranji Trophy, Col CK Nayudu Trophy, and Vinoo Mankad Trophy tournaments.
