Sub-Jr Boys' NFC : Manipur bow out with 3-2 semi-final loss

Imphal, November 05 2025: Manipur suffered a heartbreaking semi-final exit in the Sub-Junior Boys' National Football Championship yesterday.

In the first semi-final match staged at Mount Litera Zee School Ground in Amritsar yesterday morning, Manipur fought back from one goal down to take a 2-1 lead against West Bengal and looked to seal the game.

But, West Bengal stunned State boys with two stoppage time goals and walked away 3-2 winners.

West Bengal drew first blood through Sidu Soren in the 28th minute but Thingbaijam Sanatomba Singh put Manipur back into contention by scoring the equaliser in the 41st minute.

After settling the first half in a 1-1 draw, Manipur turned things around courtesy of Naorem Momo's strike in the 57th minute.

Manipur almost looked to take the game but Shagnik Kundu scored two minutes into the stoppage time to draw level for West Bengal before Bhola Rajwar hit the winner three minutes later.

West Bengal will now meet Delhi, who beat hosts Punjab 4-2 in the second semi-final, in the title clash.
