45th National Masters Athletic C'ship : Manipur athletes add 9 gold, 7 silver on Day 2; tally swells to 31 medals

Manipur athletes won as many as 9 gold and 7 silver medals on Day 2 to swell State's tally in the 45th National Masters Athletic Championship being underway in Bengaluru to 31 medals including 17 gold, 11 silver and 3 bronze.
The athletes who grabbed gold medals on the second day include K Shyama, Salam Samananda, Wangkheima-yum Subita, Phurailatpam Purnima, Kangujam Romeshchandra, Lourembam Ashakumar, Chingtham Iboton, Amom Isheihanbi, and Salam Somananda.
K Shyama won the gold medal in the 70+ women's high jump event with a 0.93 m finish as S Somananda picked the gold medal in the 40+ men's triple jump competition with a 12.06 m finish.
Meanwhile, W Subita ran 38 minutes 56 seconds to win the 70+ women's 5 km race walk as Phurailatpam Purnima recorded highest 1 m jump to seal the 60+ women's high jump gold medal and K Romeshchandra won the 35+ men's triple jump with a 12.76 m leap.
Lourembam Ashakumar, in the meantime, clocked 1:01 (1 minute 0.1 sec) to win the 55+ men's 400 m race gold as Chingtham Iboton notched up the 80+ men's hammer throw gold with a 23.45 m throw.
Amom Isheihanba won her gold medal in the 75+ women's 400 m race taking 1 minute 37 seconds while S Somananda cleared 2.4 m to win the 40+ men's pole vault gold.
The silver medallists of the day include Thoudam Nabakumar (75+ men's 5 km race walk), Soraisham Manihar (80+ men's 5 km race walk), Yumnam Brojen (60+ men's 5 km race walk), Sukham Surjamani (65+ men's race walk), Langoljam Tomba (55+ men's race walk), Amom Momon (75+ women's 400 m race), and Chongtham Thambalsang.
