SAI NERC players promote drug-free living in Viksit Bharat Youth Run

Athletes from the Sports Authority of India (SAI) National Exhibition and Regional Centre (NERC) in Takyel today actively joined the nationwide Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat campaign by participating in a morning run.
The awareness drive was jointly organized by SAI NERC and My Bharat, Manipur, under the unified theme "My Health, My Pride" .
The event was graced by Sapam Kunjakeswor Singh, MLA of Patsoi Assembly Constituency (AC), as a key dignitary.
Prior to flagging off the run, the MLA led the gathered athletes and officials in taking the solemn "Nasha Mukt" (drug-free) pledge.
Addressing the gathering, MLA Sapam Kunjakeswor emphasized that the youth are the foundational pillars of society and must prioritize staying healthy and fit.
He urged the participants to evolve into responsible citizens and work collectively toward building a robust, drug-free nation.
He also reminded the youth of the vital role they shoulder in fulfilling India's vision of becoming a Viksit Bharat (Developed India) by the centenary year 2047 .
The event was also attended by distinguished guests, including Ngangbam Soniya Chanu, DYSP (Sports) and Arjuna Awardee in weightlifting; Shyamkumar Singh, Senior Warden at SAI NERC Takyel; and W Paulina Monsang, State Director of My Bharat, Manipur.
Speaking at the occasion, special guest Ng Soniya Chanu called upon the young athletes to fully immerse themselves in sports rather than falling prey to substance abuse.
She encouraged the youth to dedicate themselves diligently to a sporting discipline of their choice, noting that a commitment to athletics naturally acts as a shield against drugs and intoxicants.
