Thoubal, July 30 2024: Konjengbam Bigyan Meitei who brought home two gold medals from the 8th International Karate Championship Indian Challengers Cup 2024 hosted by the All India Seishinkai Shito Ryu Karate Do Federation at Netaji Indoor Stadium in Kolkata, was accorded a warm felicitation by his family members and people in localities today.

The championship, which was also participated by athletes from Bhutan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Malaysia and Oman, was held from July 26 to 28 .

Bigyan, born to Konjengbam Ningthembi Meitei and Kongjengbam Ongbi Mala Leima of Yairipok Top Chingtha, was among 20 players who represented Yairipok Karate School in the championship.

The school team by coach Md Amir Khan and team official Arambam Greatson won as many as 15 gold, 9 silver and 7 bronze medals.

Earlier in the day, the team returned to a warm reception upon their return at the Bir Tikendrajit International Airport.

Other athletes were also felicitated in their respective localities.
