GC-CRPF beat THAU in IW 1st Div League

Imphal, December 29 2018: GC-CRPF, Langjing earned a 4-2 win over THAU, Thangmeiband in a Group A league match of the 25th L Sangita Devi Memorial First Division League 2018 being organised under the aegis of Imphal West District Football Association at BMSC ground, Taobungkhok.

SICO, Lourembam Leikai and SCK, Kodompokpi played out a 3-3 draw in a tensely contested Group A league match played earlier.

In the first Group A league match of the day, O Ashish of SCK found the opener early in the 2nd minute only to be equalised by P Ronendro of SICO two minutes latter.

SICO then dominated the possession mounting pressure on the Kodompokpi side and it was in the 41st minute that Ak Ibomcha got the breakthrough before scoring his second in the 57th minute and gave his team a 3-1 lead.

SCK however returned with a never say die approach and it was M Gandhi who reduce the lead to just one goal with a fine strike in the 70th minute and snatched an additional time goal to help his team salvage a point.

The second match of the day saw, Jersy Kom of GC-CRPF take the centre stage hit thrice give his team a comfortable 4-2 win and first win of the tournament after having suffered two losses.

Jersy kom scored the first goal in the opening minute before doubling the lead in the 7th minute.

A Basumatary of the same team however conceded an own goal in the 17th minute after THAU pressed hard with a barrage of shots to make it 2-1.Jersy Kom however added another in the 37th minute to ease the pressure before Hemilan fetched the team's fourth goal three minutes latter.

THAU then managed to grab a goal in the 61st minute through T Chingkhei and made it 2-4 but could not made their way in for more goals and eventually, the CRPF team cruised to a 4-1 win.

WAFA, Wangoi will face YAC, Yaiskul in the a Group B league match on December 31 at 12.15 pm while YWC, Malom will meet YWC, Langthabal in the last Group B league match of the tournament at 1.45 pm .
