Manipur and Nagaland had to share spoils as their opening match in the 2nd North East Little Masters Trophy for U-14 boys ended in a tie today at PTA ground, Agartala.
In the multi-day tournament, Nagaland won the toss and opted to bat first.
They were, however, dismissed for 124 runs in 35.4 overs in the first innings before Manipur posted the same score before collapsing within 20 overs.
Nagaland then posted 5/1 in 1 over of the second innings before Manipur also recorded the same 5/1 in 1 over to tie the game and share points with their rivals.
For Nagaland, Akash Gupta 33 off 33 balls (5 fours and 1 six) and Imtinok Kichu 20 off 60 balls (3 fours) led the scoring in the first innings that saw Manipur's Heibokmayum Lucky dazzle with a five wicket haul (5/16 in 7 overs) while Rahul Thongam (1/9), Tomthinnganba Rajkumar (1/9), Khutheibam Abu Sufiyan (1/7) and Yumnam Tomthinnganba (1/4) sharing a wicket apiece.
Manipur's Md Mujamin then produced a fine batting display to smash a half century (51 off 38 balls; 8 fours and 1 six) in the first innings as Kh Firdos added 23 off 40 balls (3 fours).
Although Mujamin gave Manipur a steady start, his departure for the third wicket marked the gradual collapse as Sangtsulen Tsunheru (5/31 in 5 overs) and Akash Gupta (3/28 in 7 overs) shared a bulk of 8 wickets for Nagaland.
