Jr Girls NFC: Manipur thump Goa, face Delhi in semis

Manipur made a clean sweep of their league round matches with a 7-1 thrashing of Goa in the in the Junior Girls' National Football Championship 2024-25 Tier 1 at RDT Stadium on Thursday.
The state girls, who emerged as Group B winners with their all-win record in the group stage, bounced back from an early deficit to overpower their Goan opponents.
It was Valaina Jada Fernandes who put Goa ahead early with a 7th-minute strike.
L Nira Chanu made it all square for Manipur in the 12th minute, and N Olivia Chanu scored the second goal in the 33rd minute as the state squad led 2-1 at halftime.
After the break, Manipur were unstoppable as L Mena-ka Devi made it 3-1 in the 48th minute, and then L Lucy Devi upped the ante with a 49th-minute goal, followed by Remi Thokchom's goal in the 56th minute.
Then N Arina Devi took care of the rest, scoring a quick double (71, 75) as Manipur wrapped up their league stage campaign unbeaten.
They finished with nine points from their three games.
Manipur will now face Delhi, Group D winners, in the semifinal on August 18.Delhi cruised past Chhasttisgarh 5-0 in their third match to finish at the summit of Group D .
