State Polo Tournament X Polo Club to meet MPSC-B in men's final

Imphal, January 12 2018: X Polo Club will meet MPSC-B in the final of the 34th Men's State Level Polo Tournament on January 14 .

The 34th Men's, 13th Women's and 1st Junior Boys (U-16) State Polo Tournament began on January 3 under the aegis of All Manipur Polo Association at Mapal Kangjeibung.

The final match for the 1st Junior Boys will be played between Tentha Polo Club and Samadon Ayangba-A on the same day (January 14) .

In the men's first semi-final match, X Polo Club got better of Manipur Police Sports Club (MPSC)- A by a huge 10-4 margin.

P Ojit opened the account when the match was just a half minute old for X Polo Club.

S Abungcha of MPSC-A struck the equaliser in the 2nd minute and levelled the score at 1-1 .

P Ojit broke the deadlock in the 7th minute with his second goal of the day and gave his team a 2-1 lead.

His team mate L Atangba scored one more goal in the 7th minute and wrapped up the first chukker 3-1 .

They continued to lead the second chukker 5-1 with one goal each scored by Th Jacob (4') and L Atangba (7') .

Th Jacob, P Ojit and L Tolonkhomba scored one each in the third chukker for the winning side while Th Ranjit and S Abungcha of MPSC-A struck one each to make the scoreline 3-8 .

The last chukker saw L Atangba and Th Jacob striking one goal each for X Polo Club to seal a 10-4 victory.

Th Ranjit scored a consolation goal for MPSC-A in the last chukker.

In the second semi final match, MPSC-B rode on O Suresh to drubbed Tekcham Polo Club 9-2 .

T Pradeepkumar and O Suresh of MPSC-B scored one goal each in the first chukker while S Ranjit of the Tekcham side struck one goal.

The second chukker saw 5 goals for the winning side while Tekcham Polo Club managed to pull only one goal through Kh Tombi.

O Suresh, T Pradeepkumar and M Jawan scored one goal each for MPSC-B while H Abung Khuman scored two goals to make it 7-2 .

O Suresh scored one goal each in the 3rd and the last chukker and handed his team a convincing 9-2 victory to set up summit clash against X Polo Club.
