16 Assam Rifles, KYU host Mega Peace and Friendship Volleyball Tournament in Kangpokpi

Kangpokpi, August 04 2025: In a spirited endeavor to foster unity, camaraderie, and youth engagement through sports, the 16 Assam Rifles, in collaboration with the Kangpokpi Youth Union (KYU), kick-started "Peace and Friendship Men's Volleyball Tournament" at the Sports Complex in Kangpokpi district headquarters.

The inaugural ceremony was graced by Colonel Sandeep Sharma, Commandant of 16 Assam Rifles, alongside prominent leaders of civil society organizations (CSOs) from Kangpokpi.

The tournament, which offers free entry to all participating teams, has drawn overwhelming participation with more than 30 volleyball teams from across Kangpokpi district and neighboring regions.

The event not only promises exciting sporting action but also serves as a powerful platform for building lasting friendships among youth from diverse backgrounds.

The opening match featured a thrilling face-off between PMA Kangpokpi and Motbung, where the Motbung team clinched victory in straight sets with scores of 25-18, 25-20, 25-21, showcasing their strength and synergy on the court.

To recognize excellence and inspire athletic spirit, the tournament offers attractive prizes: Rs 30,000 cash prize, along with a trophy, medals, and certificates for the winners and Rs 20,000 cash prize, with a trophy, medals, and certificates for the runners up and Best Player of the Tournament prize carrying a trophy, medal, and certificate.

The organizers emphasized that beyond competition, the tournament aims to reinforce the message of peace, friendship, and community solidarity.

The event continues to draw large crowds and growing enthusiasm, with subsequent matches expected to intensify as teams battle for the prestigious tide.
