YWC Langthabal lift 21st Manipur Veteran Cricket title

Imphal, January 30 2025: YWC Langthabal beat TCMDC Thongju to clinch the title of the 21st Manipur Veteran Cricket Tournament 2024-25 today.

In the final match at Langthabal Public Ground, Imphal West, TCMDC Thongju knocked 121 for 10 wickets in 26.5 overs.

In response, YWC Langthabal knocked 125 for 9 wickets in 24 overs to win the match by 1 wicket.

L Sasi of YWC Langthabal knocked 38 runs and took a massive 4 wickets to emerge man of the match.

YWC Langthabal won the toss and carefully opted to bowl first.

TCMDC looked to capitalise on the chance to bat first, but their openers failed to meet expectations.

S Rakesh Singh took only 5 runs off 4 balls and Th Tarun took 7 runs off 7 balls.

Oinam Gulshannanda and L Gandhi left the field knocking zero.

Kh Bijesh (25/51) and Somorjit Karam (22/15) displayed some fine batting but succumbed facing a motivated YWC bowlers.

Premjit (11/14), Damen Karam (19/37), L Krishna (10/8), Ningthoujam Sanjit (11/16) and Ch Jiten (8/6) contributed to TCMDC's 121 runs in 26.5 overs.

YWC's L Sasi did exceptionally well as he took 4 wickets.

Team-mate Tejkumar took 3 wickets.

Dinachandra and P Prakashmani took 1 wicket each.

With the batting department falling short of their expectations, TCMDC looked to display exceptional fielding and arrest YWC short of the target.

TCMDC's careful bowling and fielding bore results in the early overs, but failed to knock down L Sasi before he amassed a massive 38 runs of 29 balls to replenish YWC's hope.

Following L Sasi's style, L Samananda knocked 26 runs off 31 balls and Dinachandra scored 19 runs off 18 balls.

S Kumarjit (2/7), L Manaobi (6/13), G Gojendro (2/10), Tejkumar (11/16), M Ashokumar (4/6), Ashakta (1/2) and Priyokumar (8/12) contributed to YWC's winning knock of 125 runs in 24 overs.

TCMDC's Kh Bijesh took 3 wickets.

Ch Jiten and L Krishna took 2 wickets each, and Somorjit took 1 wicket.

YWC received a cash prize of Rs 20,000 .

TCMDC received a cash prize of Rs 15,000 .
