Kanglei Chess Academy felicitates chess medallists of KVS Regional Sports Meets

Imphal, July 29 2024: Kangba Chess Academy (KCA) today felicitated players of the academy who participated and won medals at the 52nd and 53rd KVS Regional Sports Meet 2023 and 2024 for KVs under KV Tinsukia Region.

KCA in a release said that as many as 7 players of the chess who read in Kendriya Vidyalayas won 5 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze in the sports meet held in 2023 and 24 and they were feted in a function yesterday at Ningomthong Bazar Community Hall, Imphal East.

As per the release the chess players feted yesterday included Aribam Punaraj Sharma of KV Akampat, who bagged a gold medal and fourth place Angom Manikanta of KV Akampat in the 53rd KVS Regional Sports Meet's U-14 boys Chess event held at KV Tinsukia, Assam from July 19-20; Bhagyalakshmee Angom of KV Akampat, who won a gold medal in the 53rd KVS Regional Sports Meet's U-14 Girls Chess event held at KV Dullajan, Assam from July 24 to 26.Other players who were also feted are Lanchenbee Ngairangbam of KV Akampat who won a ( U-14) gold medal and a (U-17 bronze) in the 53rd and 52nd KVS Regional Sports Meets; Nungshithoi Ngairangbam (U-17) of KV Langjing who won a gold medal in the 52nd KVS Regional Sports Meet; Rozee Leimapokpam of KV Lamphel (U-17) who won a silver medal at the 52nd KVS Regional Sports Meet; and Ningthoujam Ibemsana (U-19) of KV Imphal who won a gold medal at the 52nd KVS Regional Sports Meet.

Notably, winners of last year's gold medallists- Nunshithoi, Rozee, Lanchenbee and N Ibemsana represented KV Tinsukia Region in the National KVS National Sports Meet 2023 .

This year's gold medallists, Ng Lanchenbee, Bhagyalakshmee Angom and Aribam Punaraj will also be representing the KV Tinsukia Region in the upcoming National KVS National Sports Meet 2024 .
