YAS Minister extends National Sports Day greetings

Imphal, August 28 2026: The Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, K Govindas has extended his greetings to the people of our State especially youth and athletes on the occasion of National Sports Day 2026 .

In his message, Govindas said that the auspicious day is celebrated on August 29 every year to commemorate the birth anniversary of legendary hockey wizard, Major Dhyan Chand.

"Let us celebrate the day and pay tribute to our rich sporting heritage and the unmatched resilience of our athletes," said K Govindas in his message.

"This year, Bharat celebrates the day under the inspiring theme- Khelega Bharat, Jeetega Bharat," he said.

"This is more than a slogan; it is a collective call to institutionalize fitness and sports into our everyday culture at the grassroots level," the Minister said while urging all to pledge to embrace physical activity as a daily lifestyle to keep the Nation active, healthy and moving forward.
