Imphal, June 26 2025:
AIM produced a spirited second-half fightback to overturn a one-goal deficit and secure a 2-1 victory over KIYC, while SSU were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw against WFA in Thursday's Premier League fixtures at Langjing Achouba Turf Ground.
Thiyam Amujao Meitei was the hero for AIM, netting a brace to complete a hard-fought turnaround after KIYC had taken an early lead.
In a tightly contested opening, KIYC broke the deadlock in the 29th minute when Khumanthem Taibangangba found the back of the net, sending his side into half-time with a slender advantage.
However, AIM emerged from the interval with re newed determination, piling pressure on their opponents.
Their persistence paid off just seven minutes after the restart, as Amujao fired home the equaliser in the 52nd minute.
The striker then completed his double nine minutes later, slotting in the decisive goal to put AIM ahead.
Despite late pressure from KIYC, AIM held firm to claim all three points.
In the day's other match, SSU were left to rue missed opportunities as they drew 1-1 with a resilient WFA side.
Ayekpam Bhumeshor Singh gave SSU a dream start, opening the scoring after just seven minutes.
However, WFA grew into the game and restored parity in the 65th minute through Chirom Shinivash Singh's well-taken strike, ensuring the points were shared in an evenly matched encounter.
