Sunfeast Cup 2016 � U-13 & U-16 Football tournament begins Maibakhul UC edge past Mangal FC in opening

Imphal, May 25 2016: The Sunfeast Cup 2016, organised by the SPT Sports, Thau Sports Complex under the sponsorship of ITC Ltd began today at Artificial Turf Ground, Khuman Lampak.

The opening ceremony of the tournament was graced by ITC Foods CEO Paritosh Wali and Thau Sports Academy president Dr Koijam Arunkanta as presidium members.

The event invites two categories � Under-13 and Under-16 and is open to schools and sports clubs from neighbouring cities and States as well.

Speaking on the occasion, ITC Foods CEO Paritosh Wali said, "We recognize the passion that people of North East have for sports in general and football in particular.

In today's opening match of under-13 group, Maibakhul United Club (MUC) edged out Mangal FC (MFC) by a margin of 5 goals to four via penalty shoot-out after both sides were locked 1-1 in normal time.

Givson opened the goal account for Mangal FC in the 3rd minute.

However, Maibakhul UC found the equaliser through S Anand in the 28th minute.

In the penalty shootout, A Nungthilnganba, S Yaikhomba, S Anand and Th Arjun found their targets for Maibakhul UC.

On the other hand, Mangal FC witnessed three goals through Givson, Rakesh and Dhaneshwor.

In another match, Saikhul Junior Club (SJC) registered a convincing 5-0 win against Rural Area Football Academy (RAFA)-B.A treble from Khupngullen in the 2nd, 25th and 35th minute and a brace from Seigouhao in the 8th and 20th minute gave the five winning goals to SJC.

In the third match of the day, KYFA downed TBSFA by a margin of 4 goals to two.

Ch Zinky struck home a treble in the 28th, 32nd and 34th minute while Md Ajad found a goal in the 16th minute for the winning team.

Y Bobby (10th) and A Robert (25th) were the scorers for TBSFA.

In the fourth match, Khurkhul humiliated KUKA by a margin of 6 goals to nil.

The winning goals of Khurkhul came through M Beken (24th, 26th, 40th), P Goben (32nd, 34th) and Kh Zelex in the 35th minute.

In the Under-16 group, a lone strike from Mangalsana in the 34th minute helped PCL defeat TDC by a lone goal.

Sekhar and Regan scored a goal each in the 18th and 29th minute as TBSFA clinched a comfortable 2-0 win over RAFA in another match.

The winning team will receive a cash prize of Rs 15,000 and runners up team will be awarded Rs 10,000 .

In the Under-13 event Maibhakul Union Club, Rural Area Football Academy, Thangmeiband Youth Organisation, Koirengei Youth Football Association, AMOFA Academy are participating while Pioneer Club, Twinning Developing Club, United Sports and Cultural Academy, Rural Area Football Academy, Birachandra Football Academy and Mangal FC will contend for the Under-16 trophy.
