Imphal West Boxing Championships begin, P Kingson reaches final

Imphal West Boxing Championships 2024 commenced today at Khuman Lampak Boxing Arena under the aegis of the Imphal West District Amateur Boxing Association.
The opening day of the championships saw Pukhrambam Kingson of MKBA box his way into the elite men's 57 kg final by defeating Meinam Khristino Renish in a semi-final clash.
8 semi-final matches across various age groups for boys and girls were also decided on the opening day.
Ningthoujam Kishan sealed his place in the school age boys (2010-11) 40 kg final defeating Naorem Fajaba of NSA in a semi-final match before Mandengbam Nongdrenkhomba outlasted Gurumayum Jekson of PBA in a semi-final match of the school age boys (2010-11) 49 kg category to book his final ticket.
Laishram Renson and Laishangbam Uningba in the meantime will face off against one another for the junior boys 46 kg title as they registered semi-final victories today against their respective rivals.
Renson of MSBA got the better of PBA's Yengkhom Jasobanta while L Uningba of MKBA saw off Thiyam Telheiba in the other semi-final match.
Later in the day, Salam Diamond of NSA booked his place in the junior boys's 54 kg final by defeating Khangchrakpam Mangai in a semi-final bout.
Kiran Chingakham, meanwhile entered junior girls' 46 kg final by defeating PBA's Bhumika Laishram in a semifinal bout before SRBA's Aheiba Soniya got the better for Ayekpam Eliza of UBA in a junior girls' 52 kg semifinal clash.
The day also saw Leimapokpam Sanjana of UBA secure her place in the junior girls' 57 kg category final by defeating Heikham Riya.
