Manipur outclass Mizoram by 157 runs in Cooch Behar Trophy

Manipur recorded an emphatic 157-run win over Mizoram in their Cooch Behar Trophy plate group match at Lal Bahadur Shastri Stadium, Anand, Gujarat.
Manipur added 290 to their first innings total of 231 runs before bowling out Mizoram, who could only produce 142 after scoring 222 in the first innings.
Kaiku was the standout bowler for Manipur, claiming five wickets and playing a key role in defending the team's total.
Md Aqeel Ahamed supported him with two wickets, while Rain, Ringku Kangujam, and Joyhenba each took one wicket.
In Manipur's second innings, Heishnam Manikanta Singh top-scored with 71 runs.
Md Aqeel contributed a solid 51, followed by Thoiba's 41, Alikarim's 27, Iliyas's 27, and Robinson's 23, all of whom played vital roles in setting a competitive total.
Earlier, in their first innings, Manipur had posted 231 runs after Mizoram chose to field.
Thoiba shone with the bat in the first innings, scoring 79 .
Md Aqeel (35), Max (23), and Robinson (18) also made useful contributions.
Mizoram's first innings saw them accumulate 222 runs, largely thanks to Johan's 65 and Mapuia's 63, with Duata adding 21 runs.
For Manipur, Rain and Joyhenba each picked up three wickets, while Ringku Kangujam claimed two, with Md Aqeel and Heishnam Manikanka taking one apiece.
This victory marks Manipur's third win in five matches, placing them fourth in the Plate Group standings with 18 points.
Arunachal Pradesh, with four wins from five matches, lead the table with 24 points, followed by Meghalaya (19) in second and Nagaland (19) in third.
