Junior Aquatics Nationals Laitonjam Lanchenba clinches second gold

Imphal, August 22 2026:
Laitonjam Lanchenba continued his impressive form to win his third overall medal and second gold in the Group-I (B) boys' competition at the 52nd Junior National Aquatics Championship being underway in Bhubaneswar.
Having won a silver medal in the 50 m butterfly event on Day 1 of the championship and a record breaking gold medal in the 200 m butterfly event yesterday, Lanchenba swam to his second gold medal in the 100 m butterfly event with a time of 54.96 seconds today.

Lanchenba settled for the silver medal in the 50 m butterfly stroke event with a time of 25.73 seconds before winning the 200 m butterfly stroke gold with a National record time of 2:03.73 yesterday.
Lanchenba is the son of Laitonjam Kanta and Takhellambam Sonia of Singjamei Mathak Thokchom Leikai, who currently reside in Singjamei Wangma Bheigyabati Leikai.
He is a Class XI (Arts) student of Nongpok Maheikol, Brahmapur Aribam Leikai in Imphal East district.
