IW 1st Divn Football: YWC finish third, BMSC survive relegation

Imphal, October 21 2024: YWC, Malom defeated KAN, Kadangband to seal the third place title in the 29th L Sangita Devi Memorial 1st Division Football League as BMSC, Taobungkhok condemned SCK, Kodompoki to relegation to the Second Division Tier.

In the clash for 3rd and 4th places (between Group A runners up and Group B runners up) staged this afternoon at PAMYAL ground, YWC and KAN were locked at 1-1 till the regulation time before YWC emerged 4-2 winners in the shoot-out.

It was W Maipaksana who earned KAN an early lead with a 12 minute strike but YWC drew level through Kh Loyalakpa in the 65th minute to remain in the contention for the 3rd place title.

The two sides however could not be separated despite attempts in the remainder of the game.

Eventually, the game was decided via penalty shoot-out wherein Kh Loyalakpa, H Shitaljit, N Bidyachandra and K Billion scored for YWC as H Amarjit and Ch Roshan scored it for KAN.

Later in the relegation match ( between 4th place teams from Group A and B), W Anil scored in the 27th minute to hand BMSC a 1-0 win over SCK.

Eventually BMSC survived relegation scare while SCK suffered relegation to second division next season.

The final or promotion match to be staged between Group A winners NC Club and Group B winners Juvenile is yet to be scheduled.
