65th CC Meet : USA beat TRUGPU in five-goal thriller, goalless draw for Juvenile Club and Utlou FC

Imphal, May 19 2026: USA, Khurai defeated TRUGPU, Nambol in a five-goal thriller in a Group B match of the Babina Group 65th Sir Churachand Singh KCSI, CBE Memorial Football Tournament 2025-26 at Mapal Kangjeibung as Utlou FC and Juvenile Club, Tera played out a goalless draw in the Group C opener.

In the first match of the day, USA and TRUGPU were evenly poised and entered the break with score levelled at 1-1 before Ashangbam Bhaskar scored a brace in the last 10 minutes to snatch the 3-2 victory for USA .

The two sides started cautiously and held off one another until Thoudam Pravash opened the scoring in the 43rd minute.

TRUGPU, however responded swiftly and fought their way back with Oinam Yaiphaba scoring the equaliser 1 minute into the added time before the lemon break.

After the restart, the two sides engaged fiercely to find the breakthrough and luck favoured the TRUGPU as Naorem Bishorjit, who came off the bench to replace Soram Thoiba, made the most of a chance in the 75th minute.

USA also did not lose hope and drew level through Ashangbam Bhaskar in the 85th minute before he rose again to find the difference at the stroke of the 90th minute.

TRUGPU struggled to cancel the lead but time slipped fast and USA eventually walked away with all three points.

MIUFC will play NMFA in the Group D opening match tomorrow from 1 pm at Mapal Kangjeibung before ABA face RAHEE UC in another Group B match later in the day from 3.30 pm .
