9th MNCA Plate Tournament : Tongbram Donadoni enjoys five-for as YWC-P beat RRCC by 8 runs for third win

Imphal, December 16 2024: Tongbram Donadoni enjoyed a five wicket haul to set up YWC, Patsoi (YWC-P) an 8-run victory against RRCC, Churachandpur in a Group A match of the 9th MNCA Plate Tournament 2024-25 at Lairenjam Public Ground today.

Opting to bat first, YWC struggled their way to 148/9 in the allotted 30 overs but it was more than enough as they managed to bundle out RRCC for 140 runs in 29.5 overs thanks to Donadoni's lower order sweep.

M Thoungamba 26, W Shitaljit 18, L Johnson 14, L Nickel 14 managed double digit scores for YWC-P in their innings that saw Sanasam Ruby Meitei (4/23) and Md Irfan Khan (2/9) sharing 6 crucial wickets.

In the chase, L Elan 33, Bineto 23 and Y Rakesh Mohan 18 led the scoring for RRCC in a lost cause.

Laishram Yaiphaba (2/38), L Johnson (1/ 22), L Jagat (1/13) and L Nickel (1/31) were also among the wickets for YWC as Donadoni returned with the best figures of 5/23 in his spell of 5.5 overs.

Donadoni was declared player of the match.

Elsewhere at Khangabok Cherapur Public Ground, OSCAR, Paona Bazar ended their three game (Group B) losing streak by defeating SDC, Laipham Khunou by 2 wickets.

OSCAR chose to field first after winning the toss and rode on Sorokhaibam Samson (4/25) and Jawan (2/18) to bundle out SDC for 114 runs in 25.3 overs and took 22.4 overs to reach the target with 2 wickets left to spare.

Vinodkumar 20, N Rajiv 18 and A Secteijit 17 were the leading run getters for SDC while Pawankumar Wahengbam 24, Sorokhaibam Samson 16 and Jawan 15 played crucial parts in the chase for the winners.

For SDC, N Rajiv picked three wickets (3/ 18) as Ng Krishnakanta (2/23) and Vinodkumar (2/39) shared four wickets.

Sorokhaibam Samson who starred with both the bat and ball was adjudged player of the match.
