1st MNCA Super Plate tourney : RULE, YWC post five successive wins as KCC beat PCC by 16 runs

Imphal, March 16 2022: KCC, Kongba Bazar beat PCC, Mayai Koibi by 16 runs in a rescheduled Group A league match of the 1st MNCA Super Plate tournament at Model Hr Secondary and Oriental College ground as YWC and RULE clinched fifth straight victories to inch towards the semi-finals.

KCC amassed a modest total of 172 runs for 6 wickets after electing to bat first and successfully defended their total by bowling out PCC for 156 runs in 39.1 overs.

Kongbrailatpam Sanjit scored an unbeaten 52 for KCC finding the boundary 6 times after opening batters, Keisham Mronojit and Rohen played their part by adding 28 and 21 runs respectively.

Nongmaithem Dijiraj too added a significant 45 off 67 balls to KCC's tally.

PCC's Mathurabashima-yum Jobanta Sharma picked up two wickets in this innings as his compatriots, Chingakham Ranjan, L Chingkheihunba, Thokchom Anand and Thoudam Monet bagged a wicket each.

In reply, PCC put up a brave fight but could muster 156 runs in 39.1 overs as Yumnam Sheiteendra rattled the batting line up by fetching four wickets for 28 runs in 8 overs with the assistance of Ningthoujam Tony (2/21), Loktongbam Ozzy (1/28) and Singthoi Singh Nandeibam (1/31).Vikas (28) was the highest run getter for PCC followed by Longjam Gibson (24) and Huidrom Dhanash-yam (20) in the chase.

Yumnam Sheiteendra was eventually named man of the match.

Thokchom Kishan, Jay Singh Haorokcham guide RULE to fifth win (Group B)
Elsewhere at Langthabal Public Ground, RULE notched up fifth win against TCMDC, Thongju as Thokchom Kishan ripped apart TCMDC batting line up and Jay Haorokcham produced an all round display.

Put to bat first, TCMDC had a shock start before bundling out for a meagre total of 78 runs within 21.4 overs.

RULE's fast bowler, Kishan took a bundle of four wickets in this innings for 35 runs in 7.2 overs while Jay Singh Haorokchom (2/5 in 4 overs) and Nongthombam Sarojku-mar (2/13) bagged two wickets apiece.

Md Karim of RULE also managed a wicket to help restrict TCMDC to just 78 runs.

In reply, Mutum Sudhir (26 off 28 balls) and Jay Singh Haorokcham (38 off 32 balls) steered RULE to 81/2 for the win in just 12 overs.

Laishram Vivekananda and Huirongbam Babulu Singh of TCMDC earned a wicket each in this innings.

Jay who picked two wickets and topscored for RULE with 38 runs was adjudged man of the match.

Jiko Sorokhaibam stars as YWC, Langthabal cruise to fifth win
YWC, Langthabal pulled off a huge 175 run victory over THAU, Thangmeiband for the fifth straight victory in the Group A competition of the tournament here at Luwangpokpa Cricket Ground.

Jiko blazed off 95 ball 91 to inspire YWC a huge total of 274 runs for 9 after choosing to bat first.

Seram Robinson (30), Ngangbam Bikramjit (24), Ngangbam Bingson (26), Leishangthem Bishorjit (26) and Maibam Subash (37) too made significant contributions in YWC's innings which saw Huidrom Sanjit (3/51) and Achom Roshan (3/65) of THAU grabbed three wickets each.

Nicholas PC and Krishnachandra Thongbam also managed a wicket each.

THAU's chase however faltered from the beginning and slumped to 99 all out within 21 overs.

Milan Singh Keisham (24) and Chittaranjan Ngangom (15) were the only double digit scorers for the team as Albert Sorokhaibam (3/20) and Ngangbam Bishwash (3/15) wreaked havoc with their fierce bowling performances.

Ngangbam Bingson too added teeth to the YWC's bowling attack by snaring two wickets for 25 runs in 4 overs.

Jiko Sorokhaibam who was about to hit a ton for YWC was adjudged man of the match.
