RING 2026 to celebrate indigenous games

Imphal, May 14 2026:
Manipur Upliftment Centre president Leikoiba has formally announced the official dates of Revival of Indigenous Native Games (RING) 2026, a five day indigenous sports festival at Manipur Press Club today.
Announcing that the event will be held from May 21 to 25 at Mapak Kangjeibung and Khuman Lampak, Leikoiba also launched an official website dedicated to indigenous native games.
The event is jointly organised by the Manipur Upliftment Centre and the National Yuva Cooperative Society Ltd.
Addressing the media during the launch function, Leikoiba said that Manipur, though small, is bestowed with a variety of indigenous games including internationally renowned Sagol Kangjei.
RING 2026 aims to lift the indigenous games passed by the forefathers of the soil to the international level, he said.
Stating that RING is not merely a sporting event, but a larger cultural movement focused on preserving identity, strengthening community bonds and inspiring youth through heritage-based engagement, he said it will feature indigenous games of various communities including Thang-Ta, Mukna, Yubi Lakpi, Mukna Kangjei, Sagol Kangjei, Arambai Hunba, Kang, Thouri Chingbi, Naga Wrestling, Porcupine Foraging Game of Tarao tribe etc.
Urging scholars, youth organisations and athletes of traditionals games to come together under one banner and inspire younger generations towards reviving the rich cultural heritage of the State, he also appealed to all sections of the society to make the event a successful one.
