43rd MSBA Inter District and 70th State Open Badminton Championships underway

Imphal, August 10 2026: The 43rd edition of the MSBA Inter District and 70th edition of State Open Badminton Championships organised by the Manipur State Badminton Association kicked off today at MSBA Indoor Stadium, DMU Campus.

State Open

The opening day saw commencement of U13 Boys' singles competition U11 Boys singles competition.

In the first Round of 64 match for U13 Boys, Salam Yohenba Singh outlasted Bhavesh Rudra Sanglakpam 15-7 15-17 15-4 before Imareldra Laishram got the better of Meethoiba Chongtham 15-4 15-5 and Riyosnganba Soubam beat Polem Lamyanba 15-1 15-3 in the second and third matches.

In the fourth Round of 64 match, Heriquesh Khangembam beat Vian Angom 15-11 14-16 15-11 before Dhanaraj Singam beat Dedric Sarangthem 15-6 15-4 and Naorem Nelson Singh beat Kangabam Sinheiba Mangang 15-1 15-3 in the fifth and sixth matches.

In the other round of 64 matches, Rojesh Mayanglambam beat Birsingh Konthoujam 15-10 15-8; Burcelee Chingtham beat Worlanso Kasar 15-8 18-16; Laishram Bekeson Singh fought back to seal a 10-15 20-18 15-10 win over Yengkhom Chingkheinganba Singh; Ahen Sinam Thingbaijam edged out Lucky Khuman 13-15 15-12 15-6; Hercules Laishram beat Chinglemba Yumnam 15-4 15-12 and Rajkumar Bhumikanta eased past Krish Gurung 15-5 15-9 .

In four Round of 32 matches of U11 Boys singles competition, Khundrakpam Narjit Singh overwhelmed Birsingh Konthoujam 15-4 10-15 15-11; Paleppa Soubam beat Th Rengningam 15-7 15-4; Tayenjam Sanjoo Singh beat Sarungbam Yoihen 15-8 15-6 and Allyster Laishram Urush Thiyam 15-6 15-5 .

MSBA Inter District Badminton

The opening day also saw Senapati, Thoubal and Imphal West teams advance to semi-finals of the men's team championship.

In the second quarterfinal match, Senapati team beat Manipur Police 3-0 before Thoubal team outlasted Kakching and Imphal West team thumped Imphal East team in the same fashion.

In the women's team championship, Imphal West team eased past Senapati team 3-0 in a lopsided semi-final match to set up a final date with Bishnupur team.
