Ist Houpu & Sennu Memorial trophy kicks off

Imphal, November 07, 2013: The 1st Houpu and Sennu Memorial Trophy, a 9-men A-side soccer tournament, kicked off today at Khulmi Ground, Molnoi Village in Chandel District.

In all 18 football teams from different villages are competing for the coveted Trophy with cash prize of Rs.30,000.The tournament would go on till November 16. The inaugural function of the tournament which is being organised by United Football Club Molnoi Area was graced by C.Doungel Ex-Minister Govt.of Manipur as Chief Guest, Yanglet Haokip, National Council Member BJP as Guest of Honour and Apao Mate, special contractor, as Functional President.

On the inaugural day, an existing exhibition match between Maniwood and Veteran team of United football club was witnessed by a large crowd from the surrounding area of Pallel.

Team Manihood defeated the organizer veteran team UFC 6-2. Even though UFC opened their first account with a goal netted by its player S Vaiphei (Jersey No 8) in the 4th min, the score was equalized by team Maniwood�s star Hero Hito (Jersey No 25) in the 5th min.

S Vaiphei (Jersey No 8) of UFC again managed to score another goal in the 24th min and led his team to advance till the 27th min.

However, team Maniwood�s Striker Hero Hito (Jersey No 25) equalized the score.

Hero Hito (Jersey No 25) of Maniwood scored the third goal in the 30th min thereby earning hat a trick.

Gokul (Jersey No 21) added another goal in the 31st min making the score line of the first half 4-2. During the second half of the match, Maniwood�s striker Sadananda (Jersey no 10) kicked a goal in the 51st min and another goal was added by Ajit (Jersey No 18) in the 54th min.
