4th Senior Women's One Day Trophy : K Kalpana dazzles with 86-ball 128 as THAU steamroll SHADOW by 221 runs

Imphal, March 05 2025: THAU crushed SHADOW by 221 runs in a Thangmeiband derby of the 4th MNCA Senior Women's One Day Trophy at THAU ground today.

It was third straight victory for THAU and with the result they retain pole position on 6 points above PTRC who have also amassed 6 points off 4 matches.

SHADOW won the toss and opted to bat first only to see THAU amass 310 runs for 7 wickets in the allotted 35 overs today as Kalpana struck 19 fours and 1 six on the way to her 86-ball 128 and forged a remarkable 154-run partnership for the third wicket with Ningthoujam Monica who departed on 50 off 36 balls (6 fours) .

SHADOW bowlers also conceded as many as 54 extras in this innings.

Sapam Kebriya (2/40 in 7 overs), Hanglem Priyanshee (1/46 in 7 overs), Thokchom Victoria (1/41 in 6 overs) and Wahengbam Priyabati (1/55 in 5 overs) were among the wickets for SHADOW in this innings.

Chasing the huge target of 311 runs for the win, SHADOW had a shaky start and lost wickets in regular intervals as Wangkhem Nganbi Chanu broke the backbone of the line up and forced them to fall flat in 24.3 overs at 89 with Ningthoujam Monica Bowling out Yambem Joshi for the 10th wicket.

SHADOW were reduced to 53/2 in 16.5 overs as Yambem Milan and Naoroibam Sophia shared the first two wickets before Nganbi joined the party and claimed the 3rd and 4th wickets in the 18th over and the 5th and the 6th wickets in the 20th overs to reduce SHADOW to 65/6 and returned with the best bowling figures of 4/20 in 4 overs.

With W Priyabati and Moirangthem Nirupama getting run out, Monica Devi caught and bowled H Priyanshee for the 9th wicket in the second delivery of the 25th over before bowling out Y Joshi the next delivery.

Kalpana, who struck a sensational ton was eventually adjudged player of the match.
