39th State Sub-Junior Basketball Championships : Chitan scores staggering 40 points to power YOSC to commanding 56-16 win

Imphal, August 04 2026: YOSC, Khurai and Youth Club, Uripok boys and CYLC, Chingamathak girls registered second straight wins in the 39th State Sub-Junior Basketball Championships being underway at Brahmapur Nahabam Basketball Court under the aegis of the Manipur Basketball Association.

In the 4th match of the boys' competition, YOSC crushed LMYVA, Lalambung 56-16 riding on Chitan's sublime 40-point performance.

Chitan scored 19 field goals including two treys on the way to his 40-point feat as compatriot Chitravansh scored 6 two-point field goals and Phirepa managed 4 points.

They dominated the game thoroughly and led the first period 18-2 before cruising to a 36-4 lead at halfway mark.

They were leading 42-9 after three periods before posting the 56-16 victory.

For LMYVA, Yohenba scored 9 points as Ira scored four points, and Malem and Telheiba added 2 points apiece.

In the 5th match, Model Club, Chingamakha bounced back with a 34-26 win over CYLC, Chingamathak.

Keilung shone with an 18-point finish to set up the victory for the Chingamakha side as Oinam Kenny scored 10 points and Tomthin Thongam (4) and Delbert Thokchom (2) contributed 6 points.

Thomas and Bhagivat scored identical 8 points for CYLC as Suzenain added 6 points and the pair of Bidyananda and Yoihenba scored 2 points apiece.

The 6th boys' match was however a high scoring encounter in which Youth Club came out 73-50 winners against ESU, Wangkhei.

Billgates took centre-stage as he scored 3 triples on the way to game-high 31 points and was ably assisted by Phoenix (15 points including a trey) and Shriyans (14 points).

Nishan (9) and Dhanaraj (4) also contributed 13 points in Youth Club's victory as Mangalsana and Brownson scored identical 17 points for ESU .

Jivit (8), Pangakpa (6) and Sandeep (2) also found their names on the scoreboard for the losing team.

Monali guides CYLC to 32-4 victory over NETA in girls' competition.

The day also saw Monali scoring 13 points to steer CYLC to a 32-4 victory over NETA, Kangla.

Sinjelthoibi also scored 9 points including a trey in this match for CYLC as Lamjingbi scored 4 points and the trio of Henthoi, Lousingthoi and Sinthoi chipped in 2 points apiece.

Bembem scored the highest 2 points for NETA as Chanukhombi and Chingulembi scored one point apiece.

It was the second straight win for CYLC in the 4-team competition, having opened their league account with a 34-18 win over LMYVA .
