Ethnic clash-hit Pushpa bags silver at 8th International Karate C'ship

Imphal, July 29 2024:
In an inspiring tale of grit and passion, an Internally Displaced Person of Urup OBC Girls Hostel Relief Camp, Irengbam Pushpa Chanu, brought laurels to the State by clinching silver medal at 8th International Karate Championship Indian Challenger Cup, 2024 held at Kolkata from July 26 to 28 .
Hailing from Ward No 9, Moreh and bom to Irengbam Doren Meitei and Irengbam Mikhubi, she is currently studying in Class 10 at Urup Higher Secondary School.
Unperturbed by tragic circumstances befalling her in the aftermath of May 3, 2023 violence in the State, she chose to wield her own destiny.
Driven by passion for the sport since 2018, she trained relentlessly under guidance of coach Arambam Grayson for the coveted prize.
In the darkest hour, clinging to unflinching faith in herself, she chose to shine like a diamond.
In a congratulatory note, District Administration, Imphal East saluted her indomitable spirit and congratulated in her memorable achievement.
Her story is an ode to people who are making relentless efforts to achieve their dreams despite the setbacks and unfortunate series of events being played out in the State and a gentle reminder to keep persevering and shine in times to come, it said.
