2nd Premier League : UCFC overcome SU 3-2 to solidly lead at top; YSWA hold UDO to 1-1 draw

Imphal, June 28 2025: United Chandel FC (UCFC) overcame spirited Sagolband United (SU) by 3-2 goals as YSWA,Utlou salvaged a late 1-1 draw against UDO in today's Group B matches of the 2nd Premier League at Langjing Achouba Turf Ground.

Fresh from their 2-0 win against YSWA in the previous outing, UCFC got off to a flying start and raced to a 3-0 first half lead.

SU, who were clueless in the opening half, made a spirited comeback courtesy of a double from Sapam Bishorjit but they failed to pull level as UCFC ramped up their defence in the late stages to seal their fifth win in 7 matches.

SU soaked up early pressure but relentless UCFC found the lead after 22 minute as Sapam Malemnganba converted a fine chance before his compatriot K Alex Lamkang doubled the lead four minutes later.

Thaokung Malchong Chothe, who hit a brace in the previous match, then made it 3-0 after 38 minutes.

SU pulled back a goal after 62 minutes courtesy of a penalty converted by Sapam Bishorjit, who also went on to add another goal in the 72nd minute to reduce the margin to 2-3.UCFC defence however denied late SU charges to seal the game 3-2.With the win, UCFC became runaway Group B leaders on 16 points from 5 wins and 1 draw with a match left to spare as SU struggle with 7 points from 7 matches.

Later in the day, UDO, Heingang extended their unbeaten run to 7 games YSWA scored late in the stoppage time to salvage a 1-1 draw.

After settling the first half to a goalless draw, UDO opened the lead through Thongam Priyaball in the 65th minute off a penalty kick.

UDO almost sealed the win but Huirongbam Krishnakanta scored the equaliser two minutes into the stoppage time to deny all three points to their rivals.

With the result, UDO go second on 13 points from 3 wins and 4 draws behind UCFC as YSWA remain third on 10 points from 2 wins and 4 draws in 7 matches.

IYFC will play ABA in the next match tomorrow from 11.45 am before RAU play FC Raengdai later from 2 pm .
