Porompat Sabal Leikai HS emerge U-17 girls' State Level Subroto Cup winners

Imphal, June 26 2024:
Porompat Sabal Leikai High School, Imphal East were crowned champions of the 63rd State Level Subroto Mukerjee Football Tournament (Subroto Cup) for U-17 girls organised by the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports.
Porompat Sabal Leikai HS defeated Wangoi Higher Secondary School, Imphal West by a slender 1-0 margin in the title clash today to seal the top honour and an opportunity to represent the State at the 63rd Subroto Cup International Football Tournament due to be held in Delhi.

The lone goal that settled the issue was scored by L Nira deep 8 minutes into the stoppage time (60+8') when the match almost looked to end goalless.
Earlier in the day, Group A winners Wangoi Higher Secondary School knocked out Group B runners up Oinam Government Higher Secondary School, Bishnupur 7-0 to enter the final.
L Menaka shone with a haul (20', 39', 43', 54', 60') in the Imphal West team's huge win after S Silky set the momentum with a brace (8', 12') .
Meanwhile in the other semi-final match, Group A runners up Porompat Sabal Leikai HS rode on a solitary goal by Salva (54') to see off Group B winners Khangsillung Higher Secondary School, Noney.
