2nd Luwangpokpa T-20 Trophy : ESU register 15 run win against CDC

Imphal, June 26 2018: Eastern Sporting Union, ESU secured a narrow 15 runs victory while YWC romped to a 3-wicket win a today's league matches of the ongoing 2nd MCA Luwangpokpa T-20 Trophy organised by Manipur Cricket Association at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium, Luwangshangbam.

In the Group A league match was reduced to 12 over an innings, ESU won the toss and piled up a total of 79 runs for 4.Devendra started the game on a positive note hitting a total of 23 runs before Henary made up another 16 runs from 10 balls and remained not out.

Herojit and Ronson also struck 13 and 11 runs respectively before they went out.

CDC, Sagolband relied of fine bowling performance of Prince who scalped two wickets to restrict the Wangkhei side while Bob and Surjit went on to take one wicket each.

The reply however lacked spirit as CDC could gather only 64 runs losing 5 wickets in 12 overs.

Only Lalit who scored 28 runs off 25 balls did a remarkable job for CDC while other went out with paltry scores.

Vaibhay of ESU claimed 2 wickets in this innings while Bhuhel, Henary and Sanahal claimed one wicket Devendra of ESU was named man of the match for his 23 runs contribution in the first innings.

In a Group D league match of the day, YWC rode on Prakashmani's strike to seal a 3 wicket win over Model Club.

Model Club, Chingamakha won the toss and set 9 5-run target for YWC, Langthabal for the loss of 6 wickets in 18 overs.

Karnajit, Viking gathered 25 and 24 runs each from 25 and 20 balls while Pulkit added another 12 runs in 12 balls to make it a total of 94 runs in the first innings.

Priyokumar of YWC led the bowling attack claiming a total of 3 wickets alone while Sunil and Bishwas clinched one wicket each in this innings.

The chase looked difficult in the beginning but commanding display by Prakashmani led YWC seal the victory.

Prakashmani blazed off an unbeaten 48 runs from 50 deliveries while Bishwas contributed 11 runs off 11 balls.

The other batsmen played their part well and reached the target in the last ball with three wickets left in the hand.

Model Club's Bishorjit, Subham and Bijaykumar fetched two wickets in this innings while Iboyaima picked up the single.

Prakashmani, the highest scorer from the Langthabal side was adjudged man of the match.

SCCC will face UCC in a Group C league match at 8 am while CYCLONE will take on CDC in a Group A league match in the evening.
