MOA revels in Mirabai and Roshibina's success at Asian Games

Imphal, September 24 2026: The Manipur Olympic Association (MOA) has expressed immense pride and joy over the stellar achievements of weightlifter Saikhom Mirabai and wushu player Naorem Roshibina.

Both athletes secured a silver medal apiece at the ongoing 20th Asian Games, contributing significantly to India's overall medal tally.

Speaking to media personnel at the conference hall of the Manipur Olympic Association, MOA president Sunil Elangbam lauded the duo's exceptional performances and urged the State Government to accord a fitting felicitation to the home-grown medallists.

He noted that Manipur is robustly represented at the Games, with 35 athletes and 4 officials forming part of the national contingent.

Addressing the controversy surrounding Roshibina's last-minute inclusion, Elangbam clarified that the association left no stone unturned to secure her place in the National squad.

This intervention followed a controversial snub during the initial selection trials.

On being approached by Roshibina's father, the MOA formally petitioned the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) president, which ultimately led to the late approval of her selection on September 10, he said.

Sunil Elangbam reiterated that the association remains fiercely committed to standing by State athletes through any administrative or unforeseen challenges.
