9th MNCA Elite Tournament : TRAU beat PTCC by 8 runs to boost top four hopes

Imphal, February 24 2025: Coming off from a two-game losing streak, TRAU, Kwakeithel defeated PTCC, Patsoi Part III by 8 runs at Lairenjam Public Ground to bolster their top four hopes in the 9th MNCA W Prahlada and W Ramananda Elite Tournament 2024-25 .

With the 6th win in 8 matches, TRAU strengthened their position in the third place in the 11-team table while PTCC's condition worsened at the rock bottom with 6th loss in 7 matches.

PTCC, who have been struggling in the relegation zone, won the toss and opted to field first this morning.

Even as they managed to bundle out TRAU for 100 runs in 29.3 overs, they ended up gathering 92 runs for all wickets down in 32.3 overs to slump to their 6th loss.

TRAU had a sloppy start to their innings and lost wickets in regular intervals before losing all the wickets in the third delivery of the 30th over.

Only Sanjembam Somokanta 18, Preethson Arubam 16, Tyrus Chabungbam 15 and Pukhrambam Prafullomani 11 managed double digit scores for TRAU in this innings as Gemson Mutum (2/5 in 1.3 overs), Sohail Akram (2/14 in 8 overs) and Sadananda Okram (2/26 in 7 overs) shared 6 crucial wickets for PTCC.

Mutum Swabhiman (3/14 in 8 overs) and Priyojit Kangabam (3/21 in 8 overs) surpassed PTCC's bowling effort to dismiss PTCC batters for just 92 runs.

G Gomi Sharma 27, Paonam Champion 14, Dominic Moirangthem 13 and Abit Hijam 12 were the leading scorers for PTCC in a lost cause.

Priyojit Kangabam who led the bowling attack for TRAU was adjudged player of the match.

Notably, top four teams after round robin league will advance to the qualifying (qualifier 1 and qualifier 2) and elimination (one eliminator/ knock-out) round.

Top two teams will play in the first qualifier and the winners will advance directly to the final.

Meanwhile the third and fourth placed teams will play in the lone eliminator match.

The winners of the eliminator and the losers of the first qualifier will then fight it out for the remaining final berth in the second qualifier.

The last two teams, in the meantime, will be relegated to the Superplate group next season.
