20th Governor's Cup Fencing : Imphal East emerge cadet boys and girls' champions

Imphal, August 23 2024: Imphal East sealed both the cadet boys and girls titles in the 20th Governor's Cup Fencing being underway at YAS Fencing Hall, Khuman Lampak Sports Complex under the aegis of Manipur Fencing Association.

The Imphal East cadet boys team amassed as many as 3 gold, 1 silver and 3 bronze medals to seal the Haobam Chaoba Singh Memorial Trophy while the girls' team bagged 3 gold, 1 silver and 4 bronze medals to confirm the Moirangthem Gitarani Devi Memorial Trophy.

Cadet Boys

K Prithibiraj of Imphal East bagged the foil event gold medal defeating A Henthoisana of Chandel in the final as Tenison K of Imphal East and Tamnganba of Imphal West settled for the bronze medals.

In the epee event final, Sh Zenith of Imphal East defeated compatriot K Dronel as P Arjun of the same unit and K Priyojit of Chandel settled for the bronze medals.

Sabre gold medal in the meantime went to N Lanchenba of Imphal East who defeated Saion N of Imphal West.

Saolin N of Imphal East and Ng Manganba of Ukhrul received bronze medals in this event.

Cadet Girls

Imphal East's T Mangaleibi, N Dibiya and P Ambika respectively claimed the girls' foil, epee and sabre event gold medals as L Thoithoi Devi of Imphal West, Minarva Y of Imphal West and Priya N of Imphal East settled for the silver medals.

Mini boys and girls

Imphal East also swept gold medals in the epee and sabre events for boys and epee event for girls today.

Th Dorendro topped the boys epee event defeating compatriot Neilmars as Shresh and Henthoiba settled for the bronze medal.

Meanwhile, Richtopper N defeated Ph Wilson in an all-Imphal East sabre final to seal the gold medal.

N Dexter and L Khumanlapka of the same district also won the sabre event bronze medals.

Chishila S of Imphal East meanwhile claimed the mini girls' epee gold defeating RK Lubina of Imphal West as H Loyanganbi and Erika N of the same district grabbed the bronze medals.

Child category

Th Taibanganba of Chandel claimed the foil gold medal for boys in the child category by defeating Y Niranjan of Imphal West as G Sinlemba of Imphal East claimed the sabre title beating Y Yaiphaba of Imphal West.

Norahleima of Imphal East claimed the girls foil event gold in the same category defeating K Melody of Imphal West in the final.

RK Delencia of Senapati and Ksh Geetanjali bagged the bronze medals in this event.
