Prize distribution programme for 'TARANG' festival held

Noney, April 23 2021: The prize distribution function of Khoupum Sports and Cultural Festival 'TARANG' was held yesterday at Khoupum Valley with a limited number of attendees and strict adherence to the COVID-19 protocols.

The festival was organised by the Khoupum Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarters 21 Sector AR and Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) from April 9 to 16.A total of 42 teams participated in various sporting events which include football (16 teams), badminton (14 teams) and volleyball (12 teams).

Mention may be made that the badminton event was the first-ever tournament organised in Khoupum Valley.

Finals of the sporting events were conducted on April 16 and were witnessed by around 1500 people from Khoupum Valley.

A self help group "Gaithaophuam" from the economically weaker section of Khoupum Valley, was provided the opportunity to put up snacks stall during the finals with the theme "Go Green" for the survival of the group.

Adequate and necessary COVID-19 precautionary measures such as social distancing and wearing of masks were also observed in the mega fest.
