Junior National Boxing Championships : L Radhamani, Albertson Kom progress into quarterfinals

With Longjam Radhamani and Albertson Kom securing prequarterfinal victories, 12 State boxers, 6 boys and 6 girls have advanced to the quarterfinals of the 6th Junior National Boxing Championships being underway at SAI NBA Rohtak, Haryana.
The athletes who made it to the last 8 round include Lamaeilu Gangmei (48 kg), Heikham Riya (50 kg), Maria Pame (52 kg), Longjam Radhamani (57 kg), Naorem Artina (60 kg) and Thoudam Daina (63 kg) among the girls and Lairenlakpam Ambekar Meetei (48 kg), Moibungkhongbam Lanchenba Singh (50 kg), Salam Diamond (54 kg), Karong Albertson Kom (57kg), Khundom Lanchenba Meetei (63 kg) and Leimapokpam Mahesh (70kg) among the boys.
Radhamani fought her way to the quarterfinal with a 4-1 split decision victory against Sakshi of Haryana today as Lamaeilu Gangmei beat Kerala's Anidyashree Sivasankeri to earn her place in the quarterfinals.
Heikham Riya in the meantime outlasted N Adhya of Kerala in her prequarterfinal bout as Maria Pame saw off Kriti Agarwal of Telangana.
Meanwhile, Moirangthem Khrismira (46 kg) and Shumneijang Kom Mangte (54 kg) bow out with defeats to their respective rivals.
Earlier yesterday, Maria Pame sealed an RSC win in first round against Kaanti of Chandigarh to book her quarterfinal berth as Artina posted a similar win in the second round against Manisha Ghosh of West Bengal.
In the boys competition, Karong Albertson Kom outlasted B Sanjay of Tamil Nadu via 4-1 split decision in pre-quarterfinal bout to enter the next stage.
L Ambekar, meanwhile, defeated Ridham Sharma of Punjab to advance to the quarterfinals as M Lanchenba beat Arun Lamani of Goa, Salam Diamond outlasted Veer Rana of Goa in their respective bouts.
Thongram Manithoiba (52 kg) and Usham Thouna Luwang (46 kg) however bowed out in the prequarterfinal suffering defeat in the hands of Aditya of Haryana and Goa's Vignesh Kolar today.
