Imphal, October 16 2025: The "Arambam Ibomcha @ Moibungkhongba Memorial Manipur University Inter-College Yoga (M) and Arambam Ongbi Rupabati Devi Memorial Manipur University Inter-College Yoga (W) Tournament, 2025-2026" got underway underway at Modem College's multipurpose hall, today.

The tournaments hosted by Modem College under the aegis of Manipur University Sports Committee (MUSC) was officially opened in the presence of Dr Ch Pradeep Singh, Assistant Director of Sports, MU and secretary MUSC; N Indubala Devi, Associate Professor, Department of Chemistry, Modem College, and Prof N Romabati Devi, Principal, Modem College, Porompat presidium members.

Altogether 44 competitors representing Manipur University and 7 colleges viz Naorem Birahari College, TS Paul Manipur Women's Col-lege, Thoubal College, Mayai Lambi College, Standard College, Kha Manipur College and Modem College are competing for top honours in Traditional Yoga and Rhythmic Yoga events.

The opening day of the two day tournaments saw Manipur University men and women's teams seal traditional yoga titles as Naorem Birahari College finished runners up in both the categories.

Shivananda Thiyam of Naorem Birahari College meanwhile topped the men's individual Rhythmic Yoga title as Oinam Jeshmi Devi of TS Paul Manipur Women's College; Wangkhem Mona Devi of Naorem Birahari College and Achom Sophia Devi of Manipur University made the top three finish.

M Malemnganba of Thoubal College, Sapam Rishikumar of Naorem Birahari College, and M Robinson of Thoubal College on the other hand emerged top three winners in the individual men's traditional yoga competition as Ningthoujam Thajamanbi of Manipur University, Jenifer Thongam of TS Paul Manipur Women's College, and Shadokpam Baby Rose Devi of Standard College earned the top three honours.

The tournaments will conclude tomorrow.
