U-23 Men's Cricket : KASC in quarterfinals as Group D toppers

KASC, Khomidok finished Group D toppers in the 1st MNCA H Biramangol Singh Memorial U-23 Men's Tournament as they beat CYCLONE by 5 wickets for the fourth straight victory today.
In the rain-curtailed tie staged at Khangabok Cherapur Public Ground, toss winners CYCLONE were dismissed for 120 runs in 32.2 overs.
Chasing 121 for the win, KASC were 98/5 after 18.1 overs when rain interrupted the match.
Applying the VJD method the target was revised to 98 runs in 26 overs and eventually KASC were declared winners by 5 wickets.
Earlier in the CYCLONE innings that saw Donny 28 and Aditya Prasad 26 lead the scoring, Bm Afsar (3/28), Md Aqeel (2/22) and Fm Sharif (2/21) shared 7 wickets as three other picked a wicket apiece.
For CYCLONE, Aribam Ronald returned with the best bowling figures of 2/27 .
Elsewhere at Model HSS and Oriental College ground, PTRC, Patsoi Part IV ended their winless run in the Group (A) competition with a 68-run victory over TRAU, Kwakeithel.
PTRC amassed 252/6 thanks to Jotin Pheiroijam's 66-ball 115 and Salam Richie;s 100-ball 53 after they elected to bat first.
With the rain affecting the match, TRAU were handed a target of 176 runs in 23 overs via VJD method but they slumped to 107 all out in 20 overs.
Thanjam Rishi picked three wickets for TRAU before he topscored for the team in the chase.
Meanwhile Henba Paonam (5/23 in 5 overs) led the demolition job for PTRC.
Meanwhile in a Group B match staged at Moijing Public Ground, Model Club, Singjamei Chingamakha ended their group campaign with an 8-wicket victory over THAU.
The win for Model Club after a 4-game losing streak.
THAU won the toss and opted to bat first but were dismissed for 54 runs in 15.2 overs with Dibak Naorem (5/100, Biyon Naorem (2/7) and Bisal Ningombam (2/18) running riot with the impressive bowling performances.
Dibak Naorem 25 not out and Ronald Ningombam 14 set up the victory for Model Club in just 10.1 overs.
