Toupokpi Sports Meet football : Paraolon FC to lock horns with Phungchung YC in summit clash

Imphal, February 16 2022: Paraolon FC will lock horns with Phungchung FC tomorrow in the summit clash of the football competition of the 2nd Toupokpi Sports Meet organised by the Toupokpi Youth Club at its ground.

Paraolon FC made it to the final today by beating Chakpikarong YC in a 5 goal semi-final thriller.

Chakpikarong YC enjoyed upperhand in the opening half and entered into the break with a slender 1-0 lead with a WS Phahrin strike in the 5th minute.

After a series of unsuccessful attempts in the first half, the Paraolon FC poured in more players forward in search of the equaliser, which they got via Mokham in the 55th minute.

The parity however was shortlived as NL Koboi restored the lead for the Chakpikarong side at the stroke of the hour mark.

But to their disappointment, Paraolon FC fought back valiantly to pull level yet again through Alex in the 77th minute before his compatriot Bungring converted a last ditch effort during the stoppage time to make it 3-2 in the end and hand Chakpikarong a shock exit.

The second semi-final match between Phungchung YC and Unopat FC was almost a similar affair as Phungchung YC conceded the lead before rallying back to pull off a 3-2 win.

The opening half saw the two sides sharing almost equal amounts of possession and number of scoring chances but did not really materialise due to lack of finesse and intent.

Phungchung YC however ended the goal drought when Morningson banged in the opener in the 49th minute only to be equalised in the 57th minute by Aimson of Unopat FC.

Unopat FC, after the morale boosting equaliser, surged ahead with Morengam scoring in the 68th minute but Phungchung YC made their way back into the game with Nicky scoring in the 75th minute before Bunghong slammed home the winner in the 83rd minute.
