2nd Edition of the Poumai Veteran Tournament begins at Senapati

Senapati, April 15 2026:
The Poumai Veteran Sports Association (PVSA) kicked off its second edition of the Poumai Veteran Tournament at Astro Turf Ground, Senapati with participation from ten teams each competing in both the football and volleyball events.
The tournament, which will continue till April 23, marked an expansion from its inaugural edition, with volleyball being introduced alongside football this year.
Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Losii Dikho, who was scheduled to attend as Chief Guest, could not make it to the tournament due to the prevailing situation in Manipur.

In his absentia, Social worker Kh Siile Anthony graced the inaugural session as the chief guest, while Joram Koveo graced the occasion as guest of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Joram Koveo highlighted that the tournament is not only aimed at promoting physical well-being but also at encouraging the younger generation to take sports seriously.
Drawing from experiences at district and national-level competitions, he noted that such events help identify and motivate talented youth.
Chief guest, Kh Siile Anthony, in his address, emphasised the role of sports in building both physical fitness and mental strength, stating that a healthy mind contributes positively to society.
Recalling his tenure as Director of the North Eastern Council (NEC), Anthony mentioned his involvement in the development of the ground and gallery, and acknowledged K Moses Chalai, IAS for his contribution made towards the construction of the football turf as well.
An exhibition football match between Mao Veteran FC and Maram Veteran FC was also played as a part of the opening day programme.
Iril VFC, Khaomatei VFC, Heudu VFC, Khyouchi VFC and Vaki VFC clustered in Pool A and Kaozii United VFC, Dziino VFC, Range Rover VFC, Paoseikhao VFC and Dziidurei VFC drawn in Pool B are taking part in the tournament.
