9th MNCA Elite Tournament : Hanjabam Naoba's fifer in vain as REYS beat ESU by 28 runs; SCCC snap five game losing streak

Imphal, February 15 2025: Hanjabam Naoba enjoyed a five-for for ESU, Wangkhei Palace Compound but REYS, Khwai Nagamapal Lamabam Leikai rode on concerted bowling efforts to seal a 28-run victory in the 9th MNCA W Prahlada and W Ramananda Elite Tournament 2024-25 .

Opting to bat first at Model Hr Secondary and Oriental College ground, REYS were bundled out for 140 runs in 37.5 overs as Hanjabam Naoba (5/39 in 8 overs) and Chitaranjan Sharma (2/12 in 8 overs) ripped apart their batting order.

They however overhauled ESU's bowling performance to dismiss them for 112 runs in 33 overs and sealed their fourth win in 7 matches.

For REYS, KKV Mustaque topscored with 45 runs off 68 balls as Jaali Ahmed Chisti 19, Kiran Laishram 15, Naoshekpam Manglemba 11 and Sapam Bikash 10 followed suit before Kiran Laishram (3/3 in 7 overs), Sapam Bikash (2/14) and Md Basir Rahman (2/17) wreaked havoc across the ESU line up.

L Henary 28, Hanjabam Donba 18, Sanatomba 17 and Chitaranjan Sharma 11 made double digit scores for ESU in the chase.

Kiran Laishram was eventually adjudged player of the match.

Elsewhere at Moijing Public Ground, SCCC, Singjamei Thongam Leikai defeated CRAU, Khamnam Bazar by 38 runs for the first win in as many as 6 matches. Asked to bat first, Ullenyai Khwairakpam clobbered 12 fours and 1 six on the way to his 97-ball 112 and Laishram Ronson scored a 47-ball 56 to help SCCC post a notable total of 242 runs for 7 wickets in 40 overs.

Rakeshwor Republic Hidangmayum (3/37 in 7 overs), Lishan Meitei Khaidem (3/33 in 8 overs) and Bikash Singh (2/50 in 8 overs) then dismantled chasing CRAU for 204 runs in 37.4 overs.

For CRAU, Bm Sabakhan, Lamabam Ajay, Ayekpam Rakesh and Lamabam Jotin all picked a wicket apiece before Johny Kh 41, Ayekpam Rakesh 27, Sanatomba K 23 and Ph Jodash 19 emerged leading run getters in a lost cause.

Ullenyai who smashed a ton was adjudged player of the match.
